PRE ORDER - Morrissey Tee / Manchester Trade Hall 1986 (Never Before Seen Image)

A special edition t-shirt has been created to mark four decades since the The Smiths final homecoming date on The Queen Is Dead tour.

The exclusive design features a previously unseen photo of Morrissey taken during the gig at Manchester's The Free Trade Hall on Thursday 30th October 1986, during what would turn out to be the very last time that The Smiths performed in Manchester, and the final date of The Queen Is Dead tour. Printed on the reverse of the shirt is a reproduction of the original concert ticket from the gig itself.

The Free Trade Hall show has since become part of Manchester music folklore, with the band widely regarded as being at the height of their powers.

Performing as a five-piece featuring Craig Gannon, the band walked on stage to Prokofiev’s Dance of the Knights before launching into their new single Ask, alongside most of the tracks from The Queen Is Dead and favourites including Panic, Meat Is Murder and Rusholme Ruffians.

The photograph of Morrissey featured on the t-shirt was taken by Alison Bell, who was a student at the time, reviewing and photographing the concert for Pulp, the student newspaper of what was then Manchester Polytechnic and is now Manchester Metropolitan University. Alison recently co-presented the BBC Sounds podcast The Rise & Fall of Madchester with Steve Lamacq.
